Born in London in 1964,
Mark Bickham moved to the United States in 1979. He joined his
first soccer team, the Federal Way Chargers, at the U-16 level.
Mark continued to play league soccer but would not make his school
team until his senior year in high school.
In 1983 Mark found himself working at Frank Barton's Indoor Soccer
Center where he refereed games while attending and playing soccer
for the Tacoma Community College. When the Tacoma Stars came to
town in 1984, they began training at Frank's soccer center. Frank
was himself a member of the Stars organization and as the team
trained, Mark was afforded the opportunity to watch and learn,
sometimes filling in for injured team members. Mark's goal was
to make the Stars roster.

In 1986 Mark donned a Milwaukee Wave uniform as
a team member and completed his first season as a professional
soccer player. In 1987, Mark returned home to play for the Stars
reserve team. By 1992 Mark had signed with the Stars and a dream
was realized. In 1994, Mark left Seattle to play for the Sacramento
Knights, by then his fifth professional team. In all, Mark's professional
career spanned eight years and five professional clubs.
Mark began his coaching career while still a player,
coaching various clinics for the teams that he played for as well
as for local high school and college teams. In 1995 Mark founded
Little Feet Soccer, a youth program with the aim of increasing
the focus on teaching fundamentals to kids of all ethnicities
and socioeconomic backgrounds. Little Feet Soccer is thriving
today.
Off the field Mark met his wife Andrea while playing
for Sacramento. They were married in 1999 and settled in the West
Seattle area. Mark has two daughters; Lily, age 3 and Alexis,
age 12.
